Evan Thomas (b.1983) graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2006 and has exhibited at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Royal Scottish Academy, and Stills – Scotland’s Centre for Photography, amongst others.
Working with a variety of processes stemming from the photographic, he addresses the interactions between nature, motion and time, continuing to draw on the concept of a transient, restless natural world and our desire to understand and overcome it.
With new work, he is interested in the distillation of the photographic medium to it’s simplest form, pushing the limits of what the process is inherently capable of presenting to the viewer; creating minimal abstracts and stripping the image back to it’s most basic constituent parts.
He is currently employed at Stills, Scotland’s Centre for Photography, in the position of Technical Manager, where he is responsible for overseeing the running of the photographic production facilities, course programming, AV gallery installation, and IT services.
